true story of a woman in progress (the nutshell version)

It’s here where most people would ramble on about the history of their cumbersome past – where they were born, where they grew up, went to grammar school, high school, college, etc. I, however, shall spare you the details. Instead, a few quick facts:

Now that we’ve dispensed with the specifics, what’s important is the fact that you’ve found me. (Congratulations, by the way. On finding me, that is). Now for the interesting stuff.

Ambitions:

  • Prosperous Entrepreneur
  • Accomplished Author
  • Visiting Scholar
  • Book Tour Celebrity
  • Fearless Thought-leader
  • Renaissance Woman

Realities:

Some have said that I’m funny. And yes, I think that I am. In fact, I’m laughing right now, so what does that tell you? I do like to evoke a chuckle or two – an all out guffaw even. With my crazy criticisms, wacky wit and stories of adventure (that may or may not be true), I aim to follow in the footsteps of one of my literary heroines, famed humor essayist, Fran Lebowitz – only with a much better hairdo. But I’ll let you in on a little secret: it’s difficult being funny on paper, especially when one actually tries to be funny.

All humor aside, I write The Janna Monologues for you, my fellow woman in progress. I write as candidly as I know how, to show you that you’re not alone amid the depressive tendencies. I write to prompt discussion on topics like money, depression, body image, food obsessions, things that “well-behaved” women shouldn’t — or don’t — talk about. I write about my adventures in risk-taking to help you test the limits of your own discomfort as a path to finally being comfortable with your true, authentic and natural self — because if I can do it, anyone can.
